GREY MATTER and ON THE EDGE come full circle, CHICAMA premieres in Lima, and THE MIRROR NEVER LIES shines in Taipei!

A round of applause for all our GFI grant recipients and Global Lens films for lighting up screens at festivals all over the world!

DURBAN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL:

Global Lens 2012 film GREY MATTER (dir. Kivu Ruhorahoza, Rwanda) and ON THE EDGE (dir. Leïla Kilani, Morocco, 2011 grant recipient) return to their home continent for the Durban International Film Festival this year! These award-winning films are just two of the various African titles supported by GFI through our Granting and Distribution Programs! Visit our website to learn more!

GFI grantee THE MIRROR NEVER LIES recently enjoyed its UK premiere, and also played in Taipei!

EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL:
THE MIRROR NEVER LIES (dir. Kamila Andini, Indonesia, 2011 grant recipient) had its UK premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival! Read Cine-Vue’s glowing review of the film here!

KARLOVY VARY INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL:
There’s no hiding A FOLD IN MY BLANKET (dir. Zaza Rusadze, Georgia, 2012 grant recipient) from Karlovy Vary! The film was one of several films from Central & Eastern Europe that were featured in the festival’s Works in Progress session and competed for a 10,000 Euro prize! LIMA FILM FESTIVAL:
CHICAMA (dir. Omar Forero, Peru, 2012 honorable mention) premieres at the Lima Film Festival! Even if you’re not in Peru, you can still enjoy the trailer of this work about a young educator’s experience educating the youth of an Andean village.

LOS ANGELES FILM FESTIVAL:
ON THE EDGE (above) was featured at the Los Angeles Film Festival! Click here to watch a video about director Leila Kilani and the film at the Cannes Film Festival!

SARAJEVO FILM FESTIVAL:
Audiences in Sarajevo watched and listened to VOICE OF MY FATHER (dir. Orhan Eskiköy & Zeynel Doğan, Turkey, 2011 grant recipient), in-competition at the city’s international film festival! Check out the press conference with Orhan and Zeynel via the Sarajevo Film Festival website here!

TAIPEI FILM FESTIVAL:
THE MIRROR NEVER LIES (above) was featured in the Taipei Film Festival, where it received a special mention! Watch the film trailer here to see for yourself what’s attracting so much buzz!
